OUR HISTORY
The Bondurant High Performance Driving School, which is owned and operated by Stig Investments, has earned a powerful reputation for offering the best high-performance driver training and safety programs in the world.
Founded in 1968, the school today is the largest purpose-built driver training facility of its kind in North America, and is led by world-class instructors and trainers. At the heart of the 450-acre racing facility is a 1.6-mile, 15-turn track, along with 3 additional road courses and a NHRA drag strip. The school maintains over 100 race-prepared vehicles, sedans, SUVs, and open wheel formula cars and is proudly sponsored by Dodge//SRT.
Throughout the 1960s, the racing world was dominated by larger-than-life racing legends like Carroll Shelby, Ken Miles, Dan Gurney, Phil Hill and Bob Bondurant. Each one shared a passion for high-performance racing and an unyielding drive for winning that propelled them into countless winner’s circles around the world.
When these storied drivers began to transition out of racing, they naturally turned their talents into an opportunity to help others realize their dreams behind the wheel. From building race cars to training a new generation of driving enthusiasts, each played a vital role in building what is the racing community today.
The Bondurant High Performance Driving School at the Orange County International Raceway near Los Angeles was officially opened on February 14, 1968. At the time, the school’s fleet included three Datsuns, a Lola T70 Can-Am car and a Formula V.
In 1970, the Bondurant High Performance Driving School moved to nearby Ontario Motor Speedway and, in 1973, to the challenging Sears Point International Raceway near Sonoma, California. In 1990, the school relocated to Phoenix, Arizona.
Over the next 30 years, the school continued to grow and attract the world’s best racing instructors and trainers, who taught people the Bondurant Method of Driving. The programs grew to include high-performance driving, racing schools, teen driving and even competitive karting. Sponsorship and patronage also moved to the FCA Group with its exciting Dodge high-performance cars.
In May 2019, the Bondurant High Performance Driving School transitioned into a new chapter of its story. Stig Investments, a group of entrepreneurs who are racing enthusiasts and automobile collectors, as well as passionate Bondurant graduates, purchased the Bondurant High Performance Driving School.
Today, the Bondurant High Performance Driving School is led by a team of respected industry leaders who are as passionate about motorsports as they are about guiding the school into the next 50 years.
